Wedensday 11th of April at 18:00
Kulturhuset! Youngs gate 6, 0181 Oslo, Norway

April 11th we have invited the brand new animation festival ReAnima Festival to screen the best films from their first edition, at our short film screening at Kulturhuset in Oslo.

In this selection the audience will find contemporary stories and artworks that reflect our times plagued by uncertainty but that also express combative messages, artistic concerns, metaphors about life and death, the alienation created by governments to subdued the citizens. This is a global vision of the best alternative and independent animation around the world.

In a heartbeat
Esteban Bravo and Beth David  (Beth David and Esteban Bravo)

A closeted boy runs the risk of being outed by his own heart after it pops out of his chest to chase down the boy of his dreams.

Divisional Articulations
Max Hattler (Max Hattler / University of Hong Kong)
Hong Kong, 2017, digital, 4’33”

Repetition and distortion drive this audiovisual collaboration between composer Lux Prima and visual artist Max Hattler, where fuzzy analogue music and geometric digital animation collide in an electronic feedback loop, and spawn arrays of divisional articulations in time and space.

France, 2016, digital, 6’

A man…
Some Bottles…

Beign-ns
Shunsaku Hayashi  (Nurturing of Media Art Creators)
Japan, 2017, digital, 8’

This film is about the individuality in the serial solidarity of the individual; how an individual can be single. In the continuous identity of atoms, what can divide it from the plurality?

Amnesia de Estado / State of amnesia
Esteban Azuela (DeMotu Productions)
Mexico, 2016, digital, 2’47”

A mockery of the alienation to the images which we live, like the morning when you pass by your timeline and everything you see is narco-terrorism and entertainment and after that you go to work or whatever; our minds have been raped with all this violence. It´s like a snake biting its tail while writhing in pain begging for mercy.

Ragnarok
Johan Oettinger, Urte Oettinger (Art Shot/Wiredfly/Basmati Film)
Lithuania, Denmark, 2016, digital, 7’48”

An old and proud eagle is starving in a stormy, desolate mountain landscape. Lured by a mirage it discovers some carrion. The eagle is tempted to fortify itself, but does not go against its nature – to never eat carrion. It is a desperate and hopeless situation, so the spirit of doom manages to seduce the weak eagle. As soon as the eagle gives in to temptation, a bullet is shot. The eagle dies, but stays true to itself.

Sorrowful seed
Dent&Qieer Wang  (Dent&Qieer Wang )
United States, 2017, digital, 9’18”

The film is an abstract portrayal of motherhood and transcendence, involving visceral imagery and grainy sketches. The film’s hazy tone and minimal scenery depict a sense of coldness that accompanies the music through loose narrative.
