Eric Shaw

Eric Shaw is an American television writer and a former writer for SpongeBob SquarePants. Originally from Jericho, NY, he graduated from the Columbia University School of General Studies, earning honours in Political Science. Eric’s first television writing job was on the sitcom Secret Service Guy, at Twentieth Century Fox/FBC. He segued into animation writing for Warner Bros, Nickelodeon, and Walt Disney TV Animation, quickly landing as a Staff Writer on the mega-hit, SpongeBob SquarePantsfor two seasons.

Eric followed SpongeBob with stints on Jim Henson’s Sid the Science Kid as well as Olivia, Tom & Jerry Tales and Skunk Fu. Eric went on to serve as Head Writer of the Emmy Award-winning PBS series WordGirl. In June 2013, Eric was awarded the Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing in Animation.

Recently, Eric has written for Wild Grinders and Chloe’s Closet, and he was the Head Writer (Executive Story Editor) on the highly anticipated Netflix series, Cirque du Soleil’s: Luna Petunia (2015).

As of late, he has taught one scriptwriting course per year at the nationally acclaimed liberal arts school, Colorado College. He also has numerous personal projects currently in development.
