The full programme for the 23rd edition of the Fredrikstad Animation Festival is out now. The programme consists of more than 120 films, 16 speakers and guests from home and abroad. Two new speakers have also been confirmed for the festival’s industry seminars, which take place on Friday morning.
From Switzerland comes filmmaker Michael Frei, who is known for his award-winning short films. His latest short film Kids, which is also featured in the festival’s ‘Best of International short’ programme, has been transformed into an interactive game for mobile devices. Frei will talk about the innovative process through which he and Mario von Rickenbach ported the project from one medium to another, focusing on solutions to the technical and artistic challenges encountered along the way.
Following Frei’s seminar, director Thorbjørn Christoffersen will give a ‘Making of’ presentation of the Danish smash hit Checkered Ninja. The film is one of the few cross-Nordic successes and has been seen by hundreds of thousands both in Norway as well as in Denmark.
The festival’s extensive film programme lets the audience take a deep dive into the latest animated films from all over the world, with a strong focus lying on the Nordic and Baltic countries.
