Since 2012, the festival, in co-operation with Viken Filmsenter, has invited the upper secondary schools of the Østfold region to the festival to introduce them to the fine art of animation. On the opening day of Fredrikstad Animation Festival there will be a 4-hour programme consisting of presentations, film screenings and other events for the pupils of the media departments from various schools in Østfold. Festival pass holders are also welcome to attend. During the seminar, Eric Shaw, Emmy Award-winner and former scriptwriter of the TV-series Spongebob, will tell the audience about the importance of good scripts for TV-series and how to build a career as a scriptwriter. Three young men who call themselves Norske Grønnsaker (Norwegian Vegetables) will speak about the massive success with their own web-based animated humour series, and about their journey from coming straight out of university to running their own project.
