Dr. William Bishop-Stephens is a maker and an academic, currently acting program director for Animation at UCA Farnham in the UK. He is an animation filmmaker and artist, working in stop-motion and mechanical audiovisual installation.
His work is informed by the contrasting viewpoints of the relationality of Donna Haraway and the object-oriented ontology of Graham Harman. This relationship of the separate and the connected is simplified into a central practice of animation, using pre-cinematic animation techniques to blend very small real-world material elements into a large moving visual field, which envelopes the viewer within a live event.
