The wait is over, the short film competition selection for Fredrikstad Animation Festival 2026 is here! This year we're proud to present 62 films from 32 countries across five continents, spread across six competition programs that showcase the incredible range of animated storytelling happening around the world today.

Fredrikstad Animation Festival once again opened its doors to the Nordic-Baltic preselection committee for an intense few days of film viewing and deliberation. The 2026 edition has drawn an outstanding number of submissions from across the region. For the second year, we hosted submissions with the Northern Animation Network.
