Memoir of a Snail is the latest stop-motion gem from Oscar-winning animator Adam Elliot, best known for Harvie Krumpet and Mary and Max. His new film follows Grace Pudel, a book-loving, snail-collecting misfit that falls into a series of misfortunes after being separated from her twin brother Gilbert. Despite her hardships, inspiration and hope arise when Grace begins a friendship with an eccentric elderly woman named Pinky. Memoir of a Snail is a heartfelt and hilarious chronicle of the life of an outsider finding her confidence and silver linings amongst the clutter of everyday life.
The film has already earned critical acclaim on the festival circuit, taking home top honors from Annecy and BFI London, and receiving nominations for both an Oscar and a Golden Globe. Featuring the voices of Sarah Snook (as Grace), Kodi Smit-McPhee (as Gilbert), and Jacki Weaver (as Pinky), the film promises a rich emotional journey brought to life through tactile, beautifully imperfect stop-motion animation.
Ahead of the screening Festival Director, Anders Narverud Moen, will introduce the film. Guests will be welcomed with a complimentary drink, and two lucky attendees will receive special goodie bags. It’s the perfect way to kick off the summer film season with a warm, festive atmosphere and one of the most exciting animated features of the year.
We invite you to be part of this special event and experience Memoir of a Snail on the big screen, surrounded by animation lovers and festival friends.
