Jan-Dirk Bouw is a screenwriter and interdisciplinary filmmaker specializing in hybrid cinema and immersive storytelling, merging animation, documentary, and fiction. His work explores profound themes. Bouw's projects are characterized by emotional depth, experimental form, and commitment to social impact. He consistently pushes the boundaries of genre and narrative to offer a platform for marginalized voices and urgent stories. Guided by intuition and a keen sensitivity to social undercurrents, his work focuses on identity, freedom, and self-determination, often from the perspective of the outsider. For Bouw, filmmaking is a form of activist art, intended to generate impact. His aim is to challenge audiences, encourage reflection, and bring hidden or taboo topics into open discussion within social and political contexts.
