Thursday’s program centers on the festival’s Nordic forum, New Nordic Animation, where studios and filmmakers from across the region present new projects and discuss key topics shaping the Nordic animation industry. The forum is produced in collaboration with Nordic Animation, an association of Nordic studios and producers working to strengthen and develop the industry.
The seminar showcases innovative filmmakers from all Nordic countries, including Academy Award–nominated Sara Gunnarsdóttir from Iceland and Oskar Östergren Njajta, currently in production on the first original Sámi-animated feature film. Other speakers include producer Irene Sparre talking about Team Nuggets, producer Bendikte Danielsen from NRK Super, and Finnish director Iiti Yli-Harja. Read more about the festival’s Nordic focus.
The Østfold Film Mini-Market opens the festival on Thursday, October 23, with a breakfast seminar dedicated to the regional audiovisual industry, organized in collaboration with Viken Film Center and Østfold Fylkeskommune. The seminar will feature presentations from key regional industry players, along with a roundtable on strategies for building a stronger audiovisual community in Fredrikstad and Østfold.
Later in the day, the Nordic Focus and Østfold Film Mini-Market programs will continue with additional panels exploring financing and distribution within animation and film production.
