FAF's live concept "Animated Live" is back! On Friday, 23 October, the Nordic region's leading animation festival presents a visual concert with the Norwegian-British band Wiffeney, fronted by animator and illustrator Steph Hope. Hope has previously had several of her films in the festival's competition programme, and now returns to Fredrikstad with a full band and self-produced animated visual art, which will be performed live at the St. Croix cultural house.
About Wiffeney:
Wiffeney is the brainchild of two best friends: Grammy-nominated drummer and producer Jai D (Jay-Z, Hælos) and acclaimed animator Steph Hope (FX Networks, Haruomi Hosono).
The band's sound blends soulful vocals with infectious rhythms, frenetic guitars and charming synthesizers, paired with their instantly recognisable psychedelic visuals. After Wiffeney released their debut single "Townhouse" in 2025, which was picked up early by tastemaker David Dean Burkhart and added to the playlist of the French radio station Radio FIP, the band played shows in Tokyo, Paris and London, followed by a tour of the British Isles in March 2026. They are next booked to play Vill Vill Vest in Bergen, followed by an extended tour of Norway, before returning to the UK for another tour.
Wiffeney's self-produced EP was recorded in the studio with Jack Boston as engineer, alongside the well-established musicians Will Montague (Afrika Baby Bam) and Chris Axe (Hannah Williams & the Affirmations).
