The Ladder

A man ascends the corporate ladder, only to realize he’s becoming just another cog in the machine, selling and promoting the same things as everyone else. This stop-motion short explores the crushing monotony of corporate life, likening it to a slow, existential demise.

Albin Nilsson is a Sweden-based animator and visual artist working in stop-motion and 2D animation. His practice is rooted in surrealism, exploring themes of existential tension, disorientation, and the fragile boundary between inner and outer realities. Drawn to tactile processes, he works with physical materials and handcrafted techniques, embracing imperfection and presence in contrast to digital uniformity. Working independently, Nilsson moves between animation, sculpture, and painting, building introspective worlds that linger between the poetic and the unsettling. The Ladder is a solo stop-motion short film.
