For 30 years, the festival has held a special place in its heart for the Nordic-Baltic animated short film. Now, as the competition program celebrates its 30th anniversary, the festival is delighted to announce that, in collaboration with FIPRESCI, the International Federation of Film Critics, it has established its own FIPRESCI Award, which will be presented to one of the festival's Nordic-Baltic short films. The Nordic-Baltic Student Film competition and Commissioned Films, here’s the selection of films available for only the Nordic-Baltic region.
The Nordic-Baltic Student Film competition program presents 12 exploratory animated short films, each mastering the medium's endless possibilities in its own way. Whether their strength lies in technical, narrative, or visual elements, the program showcases the great talent among young filmmakers from the Nordic and Baltic regions. What's striking is how different the visual expression is from film to film, while the films all appear highly polished in terms of script and narrative structure.
From the Abstraction program and the Nordic Baltic Competition, these two films are only approved for viewers in Norway.
