The 2026 edition of Fredrikstad Animation Festival has once again partnered with the French cultural institute in Norway, Institut Français Norvège, to put a focus on the French films, filmmakers and animation experts presented in this year's program. French animation has made a strong mark on recent editions of the festival, and 2026 is no exception.
In connection with the newly established AND Market, producer Antoine Marbach will talk about how to align ambitions, navigate differences, build trust and lead a co-production for larger animated productions. Distributor Stéphane Auclaire from UFO Distribution will take part in the Meet the Theatrical Distributors panel on Friday morning.
On Saturday, the spotlight turns to a sensational new French feature film for teens and adults. Jim Queen will have its first screening in Norway and pushes boundaries, showing how the animation medium is now also exploring comedy for adults. Before the screening, one of the film's screenwriters, Brice Chevillard, will take the audience behind the scenes and show how he helped shape Jim Queen, and what it takes to create challenging, modern animation for an adult audience.
