One spring, Eri, a Holstein cow, falls in love with Sawa, a Jersey newcomer. Eri idolizes Sawa and longs to be close to her, to become one with her. To refine her intense feelings for Sawa, Eri subjects herself to ascetic practices and rituals of her own making. In a world where those who do not bear children are disposed of, Eri has fallen for someone who shares the same fate.

Honami Yano is a Japanese animation filmmaker born on a small island in Japan. Her short film A Bite of Bone (2021) won the Grand Prize for Short Animation at the 45th Ottawa International Animation Festival and the New Face Award in the Animation Division at the 25th Japan Media Arts Festival, among other honors. In addition to her creative practice, she researches sexuality and gender in animated films and curates screenings focusing on queer animation.
