On Friday, 23. October, the Nordic region's leading animation festival presents a visual concert with the Norwegian-British band Wiffeney, fronted by animator and illustrator Steph Hope. Hope has previously had several of her films in the festival's competition program and now returns to Fredrikstad with a full band and self-produced animated visual art, which will be performed live at the St. Croix culture house.
About Wiffeney
Wiffeney is the brainchild of two best friends: Grammy-nominated drummer and producer Jai D (Jay Z, Haelos) and renowned animator Steph Hope (FX Networks, Haruomi Hosono).
The band's sound blends soulful vocals with infectious rhythms, sprawling guitars and gloopy synths, paired with their trademark psychedelic visuals. Following the release of their debut single "Townhouse" in 2025 — which picked up early support from tastemaker David Dean Burkhart and was featured on France's Radio FIP — they went on to play key shows in Tokyo, Paris and London, before touring the UK in March 2026. They are set to appear at Vill Vill Vest, with further tours across Norway and the UK planned for later this year.
Their self-produced debut EP was engineered by Jack Boston (The Cure) and recorded in Monmouthshire, with seasoned live musicians Will Montague (Afrika Baby Bam) and Chris Axe (Hannah Williams and Affirmations).
