Fredrikstad Animation Festival starts today! Here are some of the highlights of today’s program:
VR Exhibition: Finding Frida
Experience the 41-minute VR film in the foyer at the cinema, from 10:30 to 18:45. Book your slot for today and through Saturday! We have a limited number of slots, so don’t miss out on this experience.
Graduation Film Pitch
Three schools are pitching their graduation films, with a total of 12 student projects shown. First up are Sörangen Folkehøgskole at 11:00, Estonian Academy of Arts at 12:00 and Høgskolen i Volda at 13:00.
Storyline Production Pitch
For the first time, a pitching forum has been added to the program in Fredrikstad. The projects in this year’s first edition come from all over Norway and will be presented at the cinema at 15:30. The jury will crown a winner on Thursday evening, and Storyline Studios will provide 100,000 NOK in production funding to the winning project.
Opening Film: Julenissens Verksted
This year’s opening film is Qvisten’s latest work, Julenissens verksted. At 16:30, we take you on an adventurous journey in search of Santa’s workshop. This is a film for the whole family, filled with humor, familiar songs, real Christmas spirit and a Christmas message that warms the winter cold. This is the film’s world premiere!
Drink and Draw at hoi polloi
Join us at hoi polloi at 18:00 for a casual drink and drawing session with friends! The theme of the evening is smear frames, and you’re free to explore the theme or draw whatever your imagination fancies. Bring your favorite tools and your friends!
Opening Ceremony
Fredrikstad Animation Festival opens in style with a short and sweet opening ceremony at Fredrikstad Kino at 21:30. The evening offers a taste of the festival program and, above all, pays tribute to this year’s guest of honor, Eija Saarinen. As an extra treat, Harald Zwart gives us an exclusive look at his upcoming blockbuster ViQueens. Don’t forget the opening reception from 21:00, where we’ll serve cake in honor of Mikrofilm’s 30th anniversary!
Midnight Madness at TÆPS
Meet us at 23:45 at TÆPS, where we offer no fewer than 15 films to entertain both festival-goers and the city’s night owls. The program will both provoke and delight audiences, pushing the boundaries of the medium. Many of the films may lack some technical polish, but their ability to communicate through sheer visual madness is the program’s strength. Like all cultural events at TÆPS, the program is completely free.
Welcome everyone, we’re so excited to see you!
