Fredrik Fottland from Expanse will share the challenges and highlights of creating award winning feature films. A Mouse Hunt for Christmas, became the most watched film in Norwegian cinemas in 2025 and the animation studio that created around 500 shots with animated hero characters and visual effects, will provide a case study for working with hybrid animation/live-action productions. This case study will also look at moving from A Mouse Hunt for Christmas to it’s squeal and the opportunity for cost savings with existing assets.
Simon Kvame from NFI will present “Norwegian Animation – The Past Three Years” A comprehensive overview of relevant Norwegian-produced and Nordic co-produced animated cinema releases, including release date, target audience, total release/marketing budget, and cinema admissions.Compare each film’s primary target audience with available audience data and demographics. Assess whether the films reached their intended audiences and identify any significant discrepancies. Differences between expected and actual admissions may also be of interest.Identify any common patterns related to factors such as target audience, release date, positioning, scale of release, established franchises/IP, and original concepts. A few selected case studies will be presented and examine how they performed theatrically in Norway.
