Exploring: Planning Your Itinerary
The cinema, other festival venues, the hotel, and restaurants are all located within a five minute walk of eachother, making it easy to hop between events at the festival and not miss out on anything. There is only one exception: The industry Gala Dinner will be held in the charming, historical old town, a fortified town constructed during the 16th century, 12 minutes away by ferry. The ferries are all free, and can transport you to and from the town center, Sentrum Fergeleie, to the Old town, Gamlebyen Fergeleie. You can find the timetable here. (Note in the evening the ferries will only take you across the river, and not all the way back to the city center, so expect a 10 minute walk back to the town centre if you decide to return after 20:30.)
Weather: What To Expect
In Norwegian we have a saying: "There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes" (but in Norwegian it rhymes). October is a rainy season in Fredrikstad, and the perfect weather for watching movies indoors. Expect temperatures around +5 degrees celcius in the morning and evenings, and around +12 degrees celcius during the day. Waterproof shoes are recommended, and dressing in layers that keep you warm and dry.
