Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned FAF attendee, here’s your guide to making the most of your time in Fredrikstad.

 

Travel: Getting Here 

Fredrikstad is easily accessible by train, bus, and plane, making it simple to join us from near or far.
If you're flying in, Oslo Airport Gardemoen is the closest airport. There are direct buses from Oslo city center and Gardermoen Airport to ensure a smooth journey. If you're traveling from Scandinavia, we suggest traveling by train. Frequent trains run directly to Fredrikstad via Gothenburg, and it might be just as easy to get here by train as by plane, see the map below to compare. The last departure from Fredrikstad to Oslo is 22:46, so you can enjoy the full festival experience and still make it back to the city.

Fredrikstad offers a variety of cozy and convenient places to stay. Scandic City Hotel is a fantastic option and a central hub for festival activities. Be at the heart of the action: Quality Hotel Fredrikstad and Hotel Fredrikstad are just a short walk from Fredrikstad Kino and the festival’s main venues. And if you’re still searching for a spot, Gamlebyen Hotell is a quieter option in the city’s old town.

Scandic City Fredrikstad

The Scandic City Fredrikstad is the main hotel venue for the 2024 edition. It is located in the center of Fredrikstad, 10 minutes walking distance to the train station and 1 min from the bus station. Less than a 5-minute walk to the cinema, this is the best option to be in the heart of the festival.
